The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer-- Automation and Machining will work to develop, implement, and improve processes and technologies in our automation and machining department. This role will be responsible for ensuring proper capacity for the department and working to drive substantial productivity on existing products as well as extensive focus on integrating new products successfully into the department. This role will support the entire MR business and plants in, Florence, Monterrey, Tianjin, Aurora and Bangalore. AME (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering) is recognized as a key manufacturing technology leader within their organization. Job Description


  • Identify the automation needs and solution for the plant based on current capability and capacity and the future programs with technology required to meet the increased capability and capacity.

  • Implement Machining Platform across all plants - Vendor identification, machine selection and implementation of an enterprise wide machining solution for all plants. This solution would be the bed rock for MR’s machining capability and capacity for the next 20+ years.

  • Drive robotics and automation across machining, winding, epoxy preparation and other coil and magnet manufacturing operations. Set the plants for double digit productivity growth year over year.

  • Drive improved product quality, capacity, and productivity by identifying manufacturing issues, developing advanced manufacturing cost-effective solutions, and overseeing successful implementation into production of new methods, processes, tooling, and equipment.

  • Work closely and collaboratively with design engineering, other manufacturing sites, as well as central AME teams including to deliver best practices and solutions to the factory.

  • Work to implement improvements in machining through achieving longer tool life and higher material removal rates though optimizations of CNC programs, improved tooling selections, and optimizing equipment and process flow.

  • Implement improvements to plant fiberglass winding, ovens, machining, and material handling practices and technologies into new and existing products. Seek out best practices at trade shows and benchmarking other sites. Work with manufacturing leadership to identify and resolve manufacturing and quality problems related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment and product design.

  • Monitor and improve productivity through the use of Lean Six Sigma or related tools, while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality and cost-conscious manner.

  • Participate in early focus on manufacturability in NPI and/or Advanced Technology programs.

  • Drive AME initiatives across sites while providing business-wide impact and enabling sharing of best practices across the Global Supply Chain.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance through Qualification & Validation. Responsible for ensuring rigor in determining processes requiring validation, development of plans and analysis criteria, execution and final analysis and acceptance.

  • Help execute continuous simplification of QMS methods and their applications by working with cross-functional team including Operations and Quality Assurance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree within appropriate Engineering/Science discipline or Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project leadership within a manufacturing, development, technical industry or research environment.

  • Demonstrated execution at meeting project goals while satisfying quality, performance, schedule, and budget CTQ’s.

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting, analytical and planning skills.

  • Demonstrated engineering knowledge, program management, and business planning processes, having experience with the full product lifecycle including supply chain and manufacturing.
