Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
Ensure that all designs and practices implement and foster a culture of safety, quality, and value. Prepare/review detailed technical specifications for the control of large industry, marine and naval power converters that meet customer requirements. Develop, define, and deliver the base software package (software with list of libraries/system versions, test reports) for use in typical project configuration. Maintain ownership of all engineering artifacts associated with specific power converters on projects including software specifications, control specifications, software, control drawings, software, factory acceptance test procedures, and commissioning instructions. Create models of the power electronic controls for use by power systems engineers for performing power quality studies and system stability studies. Oversee/complete the HMI/Control/Process coding. Develop test plans in accordance with the Basic Requirements and the electrical power plant. Understand and use the offline and real time models of the overall electrical power electronics plant, propose, and implement model improvements. Set up the Hardware In the Loop (HIL) platform. Configure, Parameter and Test in HIL project software. Ensure projects are completed within schedule and budget. Interface with customers to ensure requirements and expectations are understood and achievable. Manage software design process and realization for power converters for specific high technical value projects.
Qualifications / Requirements:
PhD degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Power Electronics or related fields and 8 years of experience in a related occupation required. The position also requires: 8 years experience in power electronics, power conversion, and/or naval power systems including: Power Electronics SW development; 3 years experience on multilevel voltage source inverters; 3 years experience of electrical power quality and power generation using Active Front End (AFE), Dynamic Static VAr Compensator (DSVC); 2 years experience with Matlab/Simulink Texas Instrument DSP tools; and 3 years experience on Embedded Software development tool with P80i. Up to 30% international travel to our international offices and customers worldwide for business meetings and/or commissioning and/or equipment troubleshooting.
