GE Aerospace Staff Engineer - Rotor Metallic Materials Operations in Evendale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

The Staff Engineer - Rotor Metallic Materials Operations will be responsible for the development, improvement, and execution of standard work, visual management, budget management, and operating cadences as well as the incorporation of FLIGHT DECK. This role will also take the lead on executing the management and tracking of the characterization of enhanced inspection indications.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, the development, improvement, and execution of operating rhythms to support Rotor Material Section KPIs

  • Own the management, tracking, and execution of enhanced inspection indication data gathering and characterization

  • Integrate with key partners to identify appropriate prioritization of work

  • Be the section strategy leader for the development of standard work

  • Identify gaps and create action plans to achieve KPIs

  • Create and train others to create visual management for technical programs

  • Update metrics and reports weekly and provide analysis of trends

  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue

  • Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives

Qualifications/Requirements :

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related field

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in technical project management, operations, quality, material application, or material behavior work.

  • Willingness and ability to travel, as required

Desired Characteristics :

  • Experience with GE Aerospace systems, quality, and engineering

  • Demonstrated systems level thinking

  • Familiarity with aerospace or gas turbine industry manufacturing, quality systems and field support.

  • Familiarity with primary processing (forge & heat treatment) of rotating part forgings.

  • Familiarity with metallurgy, manufacturing processes and inspections such as forging, heat treatment, macroetch and blue etch anodize inspection etc.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills

  • Proven analytical and organizational ability

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and in teams

  • Must have ability to work successfully in a team environment

  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

  • Must have desire to perform technical work
