The Senior Systems Engineer – Networking will be responsible for the builds and integrations of new or expansion network solutions that align with strategic and tactical objectives into current generation products. The Systems Engineer will also be responsible for assisting in next-generation technology Proof of Concepts, developing the processes, procedures, and documentation to integrate next generation technology into the current generation of products, and providing Level Three production support within a secured environment.

This role must be performed onsite in Evendale, OH.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide technical expertise in network design concepts and infrastructure implementations

• Solve Tier 4 escalations with granular detail and root cause analysis

• Build and deploy network switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, network related servers, and network management tools in a mostly Cisco based environment

• Investigate, Test and implement software upgrades for all network equipment with aid from the vendor or by reading and understanding release notes

• Create high-level and detailed network diagrams using MS Visio or other similar software

• Ability to Apply, Develop, and Maintain best practice security guidelines for networking

• Assess a situation and derive the proper plan of corrective action quickly and decisively

• Create and evaluate network designs and changes to networks in existing environments

• Coordinate with external stakeholders and other technical and security experts for network needs for current deployments in existing areas.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Network Design and Implementation OR Associates degree with minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Network Design and Implementation OR High School Diploma with minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Network Design and Implementation.

Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience

• Must be a US citizen. Due to the nature of the work being performed this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.

• Proven experience with networking and routing protocols: VLAN, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF/EIGRP, LACP

• Proven experience with Cat 5e and Cat 6 cabling, as well Fiber-optic cabling including terminations, standards, and troubleshooting skills

• In-depth knowledge and strong experience building, deploying, and managing enterprise-grade network switches, network related servers, and network management tools in a Cisco-based environment

• Proven ability to work on multiple projects at once

Desired Characteristics:

• Active US DOD Security Clearance

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or Engineering plus a minimum 5 years of Network Design and Implementation

• Experience with Voice of IP Protocol

• Cisco-based platform experience, including Nexus Switches, Firepower Appliances, and ISE

• Cisco ACI Experience

• General IT Experience with Datacenter Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, etc.)

• Experience supporting and supporting VPNs and IPSec Tunnels

• Desired Certifications include CCNA, CCNP, SEC+, and/or CISSP

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work in a team environment or independently as needed

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
