General Electric Sr Director - Enterprise Data Management (Item/Material Master) in Evendale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

Responsible for providing strategic item data management leadership and overall management of governance of item master data. The Senior Director, Item Data Management will partner closely with the Enterprise Data Management team, Lean Leadership teams, business functional areas, and digital technology teams to implement and drive improved item data quality, data integrity, and data governance. In this role you will be responsible for strategic and day-to-day operational execution of item data management priorities while ensuring that all critical item data elements are managed as an asset for GE Aerospace ongoing success.

This role will be responsible for driving item master data foundational and strategic improvements enterprise wide while adhering to GE Aerospace enterprise data management and data governance framework. This includes data policies and best practices aimed at achieving the required level of consistency, accuracy, validity, and completeness of item information. In addition, a key responsibility includes delivering financial business outcomes, implementing, and driving improved data quality metrics, training programs, and creating a centralized item data management organization. This role will report directly to the business and dotted line into Enterprise Data Management.

Job Description

  • Drive development of item master data management strategies, implementation roadmaps and business cases.

  • Support Implementation of Enterprise Data Management’s long-term vision for Item Data Governance including execution on detailed annual plans, financials, projects, and lead the item data management team.

  • Establish and define important item information critical data elements, metadata rules, data quality rules, attribute naming conventions, industry/trade standardizations, categorizations, and lineage.

  • Collaborate with business and DT stakeholders to advance the effective and scalable usage item of data across the enterprise.

  • Design, hire, and implement an organizational structure that will support management of all item master data activities and operational workload including, data access, data metrics, financial business outcomes, and enterprise-wide strategic data management best practices.

  • Leverage experience in operational management to identify organizational capacity for item master enterprise data stewards; Actively manage data stewards dealing with complex data issues, implement enterprise-wide improvements, while measuring financial business outcomes.

  • Leverage prior proven experience to educate senior leadership on how data services relate to the implementation strategy and timeline of an enterprise-wide data strategy initiative and can provide continuous feedback on the interdependencies with cross-functional teams

  • Develop, deploy, and monitor policies and processes established for managing item master data across GE Aerospace’s source systems, automated and manual processes.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with cross functional business leaders, stakeholders to integrate programs into overall strategic objectives aligned with item management data policies and processes.

  • Lead with a hands-on approach – drive accountability to continuously improve enterprise standards, and grow the team's capability set from both depth and breadth perspective

  • Manage diverse item master data across multiple product categories enterprise wide in a complex matrixed operating model.

  • Improve trust in item critical data elements by defining and improving data quality.

  • Promote lean mindset as it pertains to the team’s operational effectiveness and opportunities to continuously improve the item master process across the business

  • Effectively communicate and manage escalations to senior leadership.

  • Ensure conformance to all applicable GE standards, policies, and guidelines.

Required Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, 5 + years’ experience in item management, Master Data Management, Data Governance or Enterprise Data Management.

  • 5+ years experience in manufacturing or supply chain

  • 5+ years managing a team of 5 or more individual contributors or leaders

Desired Characteristics

  • Multiple large scale item data master strategic deployment experience with business transformation process ownership

  • Must be well versed in both strategy and program implementation

  • Extensive experience with item master data management, PIM, MDM, data governance, and data quality management.

  • History working with large datasets, metadata management, and data models

  • Experience with business operations and B2B

  • Ability to understand how data services relates to the implementation strategy and timeline of the program and can provide continuous feedback on the interdependencies with cross-functional teams

  • Great communication skills: ability to translate among the languages used by executive, operational, IT, and business

  • Demonstrated leadership in ERP program deployment pertaining to strategy, operating model, data solutions and integration, and process governance

  • Passionate about driving change and influence transformational change.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a highly matrixed environment

  • Ability to work with cross functional teams to drive operationalizing item data products

  • Hands on experience in solving challenges for master data management, data quality problems or complex data integrations.

  • Key understanding of the importance of change management in the implementation of data and information management strategies.

  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Experience working across multiple functions and with global resources

  • Experience in Aerospace and understanding of engine’s item components

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver large scale programs

  • Demonstrated leadership in ERP program deployment pertaining to strategy, operating model, data solutions and integration, and process governance

The salary range for this position is $176,000 - $293,300. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive plan.
