General Electric Sr Data Operations Engineer in Evendale, Ohio

Role Summary:Join the Aviation Military Systems (MSO) DT organization as a Sr Data Operations Engineer, where you will work closely with Technical Product Owners and software, data, and visualization engineers, providing operational excellence in data integrations and data engineering for the Military Data Warehouse.

  • In addition, as the Sr Data Operations Engineer for the Military Data Warehouse, you will:

  • Define requirements and technical strategy for new data integrations for the Military Data Warehouse (MDW)

  • Ensure optimization of existing MDW data integrations, data preparation and data storage

  • Collaborate with fellow data, software and visualization engineers on delivery of MDW products and knowledge share

  • Develop ETL processes and procedures, and design and deliver ETL workflows to enable Military growth and day to day operational excellence

  • Develop database packages, procedures, functions, materialized views, views and queries in support of data integration and data visualization

  • Advocate for data democratization in military, partnering with teams on data integration into the data lakes to make MDW data available for MSO engineers and business partners

  • Owns and is accountable for data platform and service SLA’s against operational commitments, effectively balancing different, competing objectives

  • Owns and is accountable for compliance policies, precedent and experience to make complex decisions

  • Works with Military DT Leaders, with MDW Platform Owners and MSO Enterprise Data Architects to establish vision and drive strategy for the organization for data technology platforms and services, quality strategy and organizational and resource planning

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience developing ELT/ETL Data Integrations and working with Oracle

  • Knowledge of Informatica and Talend data integration

  • Experience with data wrangling and data visualization

  • Experience evangelizing self-service reporting

  • Strong communication skills: clear written and oral communication

  • Strong project management skills with proven track record of successful project completion

  • Evangelizes concepts beyond current offerings for operational excellence

  • Proactively engages with cross-functional teams, builds consensus to resolve issues and design solutions using critical thinking, analytical skills and best practices

  • Self-motivated and passionate about developing best practices

  • Be flexible and adaptable to changing business models and organization structures and still be detail oriented

  • Ability to work to deadlines and think critically about the task at hand
