General Electric Senior Government Accounting Manager in Evendale, Ohio

Role Summary:

The Senior Government Accounting Manager will be responsible for the comprehensive financial forecasts, reporting and analytics to support GE Aviation Military pricing proposals; ensuring compliance and adequacy with government regulations.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Senior Government Accounting Operations Leader will be a key thought leader on the Government Business Controllership team, supporting strategy, vision and execution to deliver on compliant and effective government pricing rates

Additionally, as the Senior Government Accounting Manager, Key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for business processes and controls necessary to comply with US Government regulations and procedures related to cost accounting

  • Has expertise within a field comprising of different approaches, methodologies, techniques and processes

  • Communicates solutions across own function with impact on other functions

  • Regularly advises management in the function and/or in the business

  • Work seamlessly with a team of government accounting professionals to support Forward pricing rate proposal (FPRP) objectives and be accountable for the following operating responsibilities

  • Publish rate letters in sync with financial planning calendar

  • Manage FPRP rate models with Pool owners through review of assumptions, reconciliation of inputs and ability to document significant variance drivers to the prior Rate letter and PY actuals

  • Support FPRP Audit with the DCAA through answering of “request for information”

  • Determine and present rate drivers to senior leadership

  • Build positive relationship with customers

  • Engage in work complying with Government rules and regulations; FAR, DFAR, CAS

  • Interpret and implement Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Maintain accounting, financial reporting, financial control, and information systems to ensure adequate records, appropriate authorizations of transactions, and safeguard assets

  • Initiate and implement process improvements Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university or college

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial or leadership position Desired Characteristics:

  • Proficient with MS Excel and Power point (i.e. Pivot Tables, Data Sorting, basic lookups) for data analysis

  • Skilled in aligning stakeholders and communicate a single synthesized perspective

  • Balances value propositions for competing stakeholders

  • Brings cross functional teams together to empower, lead and communicate to help build effective processes with the courage and communication skills to call out status quo

  • Influences through others; builds direct and "behind the scenes" support for ideas

  • Pre-emptively sees downstream consequences and effectively tailors influencing strategy to support a positive outcome

  • Continuously reflecting on success and failures to improve performance and decision-making

  • Understands when change is needed

  • Ability to facilitate within a team of individuals to deliver on priorities and work across multiple cross-functional teams to demonstrate one team approach for generation of a solution

  • Proactively engages with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and design solutions using critical thinking and analysis skills and best practices

  • Finds important patterns in seemingly unrelated information

  • Influences and energizes others toward the common vision and goal

  • Maintains excitement for a process and drives to new directions of meeting the goal even when odds and setbacks render one path impassable

  • Integrate new processes and/or technology to significantly add value to GE

  • Identifies how the cost of change weighs against the benefits and advises accordingly
