Job Description Summary

The GE Aerospace Contracts team is a critical member that is a trusted and proactive partner for the business. Contracts is the face of GE Aerospace to our US, foreign government, airframer, and shipbuilder customers. We are charged with cradle-to-grave contract management duties in all phases of a program, from proposal strategy, negotiation, and execution/finalization through the full development, production, and sustainment lifecycle. The contracts team provides expert knowledge in customer relationships and regulations, contract terms, price, profit negotiation, risk analysis and mitigation strategies, and scope management. As an enabler to the business, Contracts collaborates across multiple functions and is laser focused on achieving business deals that meet or exceed both GE Aerospace and the customers’ expectations while keeping the company safe.

As a Senior Contracts Manager, within the Contracts Operations Team, you will support the growth and development of the other teammates and be a focal for the Contracts Department answering questions and providing guidance and counsel, to Contracts Managers and other disciplines within GE Aerospace. This position involves reviewing and assessing changes in the Federal Acquisition Regulations, including the DoD FAR Supplement, and communicating our assessments internally and externally to the Aerospace Industries Association.

This position will have a broad influence across several business units within GE Aerospace and as such requires developing an understanding of the current contracting practices and assisting with making any necessary changes towards standardizing the practices.

The ideal candidate has practicable experience managing contracts through the entire lifecycle, from solicitation receipt to contract close-out. This is important for implementing any process changes, whether driven by regulatory changes or internal business decisions, and understanding the impact on the day to day contracting function. Presenting the regulatory changes and their impact to the business to various levels of management is an important aspect of this position. Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Operates as a member of the Contracts Operations team, works closely with fellow Contracts Department teammates and the Contracts Directors.

  • Drafts new and revisions to policies and procedures, in addition to other command media.

  • Builds a rapport within the Contracts Department as a “go-to” person answering questions, offering advice and counsel, and assisting with resolving contractual matters.

  • Reviews new Federal Acquisition Regulation and DoD FAR Supplement changes and provides leadership with insights and a comprehensive assessment of the change.

  • Coordinates input from various stakeholders on the impact of the acquisition regulatory changes and submits responses to AIA.

  • Participates in AIA’s Contract Management Committee Meetings

  • Uses outstanding communication skills, financial acumen, organizational skills, and knowledge of the contracting function to make improvements in the day-to-day operation.

  • Builds and champions a culture of inclusiveness while developing and coaching employees of diverse backgrounds and thoughts.

  • Embraces Lean, digital tools used internally, and externally from our customer, and rigorous contracting practices driving continuous improvement, standardizing operations, and employee and customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college

  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience with negotiating and managing FAR Part 12 and 15 US Government contracts and International Direct Commercial Sale Contracts.

  • Must be willing to travel, domestically and internationally, as required.
