General Electric Security/Fire Supervisor Lead - Second Shift in Evendale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

The Security Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of Plant Protection (Security and Fire) and crisis management, which will include physical security, electronic security, crisis management, emergency response activities, fire prevention, suppression, training, administration, and experience in working with unions. Ensure GE employees, technology, and assets are secure, while providing value to the GE Business.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

  • Provide leadership for the complex in the protection of life and property, instruct and train all employees in Fire and Security practices and procedures, identification of compliance vulnerabilities and reporting, and implementation of Fire / Security technologies throughout the site

  • Communications/Operation Center experience handling a dispatch center, Access Control systems, CCTV, and Radio Operations,

  • Instruct assigned personnel and supervise daily activities

  • Conduct preliminary investigations

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and identify vulnerabilities for immediate or follow-up resolution

  • Implement Fire / Security technologies throughout the site

  • Provide support to other organizations for the implementation of Fire and Security counter measures

  • Ensure compliance with all government regulatory requirements relative to Security and Fire Protection and design and implement emergency response plans

  • Ensure that all processes are being continuously improved utilizing total quality management techniques

  • Liaison with local, state and federal law enforcement and government regulations

  • Handle grievances, maintain Departmental discipline, conduct, and general behavior of assigned personnel.

  • Enforces fire prevention ordinances.

  • Responsible for dealing with crisis situations such as civil strife, accidents, emergencies, workplace violence and various types of threats in current security environment.

  • Investigate security and fire concerns and incidents, maintain comprehensive reports, statistical data, and implement corrective actions to abate risk

  • Responsible for backing up key security functions such as badging operations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 5 years of related experience)

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in fire and security management / leadership

  • Advanced knowledge of computer systems

  • Willing to work a modified work schedule to meet the demands of the role (e.g. 10am-6pm or noon to 8pm)

  • Willing to work alternating weekends and some Holidays

  • Access Control - Communications – Dispatch Center, CCTV, Radio Operations

Desired Characteristics:

  • Additional experience with fire and security technology systems, hardware and software is preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of modern fire suppression, prevention and emergency medical service principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment.

  • Well-rounded understanding of total quality management techniques

  • Knowledge of Department of Defense Industrial Security requirements and regulatory requirements

  • Solid oral and written communication skills

  • Robust interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Effective coaching expertise, when working with cross-functional groups, other businesses, and global teams

  • Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to operate a motor vehicle.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Thorough knowledge of modern fire suppression, prevention and emergency medical service principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment.

  • Have an "A" class physical without limitations that would prevent applicant from performing the full scope of the position

  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet and maintain the eligibility requirements for access to classified information
