General Electric Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Staff Engineer in Evendale, Ohio

Role Summary:The Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Staff Engineer will be responsible for developing computed tomography (CT) inspection solutions for new material systems and new product development in castings, additive manufacturing and composites. Work with materials and design engineers, external vendors and GE Global Research to develop and validate new materials and components using nondestructive evaluation methods.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work with design, materials and manufacturing engineers to establish inspection requirements

  • Define, develop and implement CT inspection methods for aviation development and production hardware

  • Lead and support image analysis projects including the validation and acceptance of ADR

  • Understand and comply with aviation quality standards for production hardware

  • Lead and participate in the technical reviews of proposed inspection methods

  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules and contract commitments, develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems

  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and communicate project status and associated risks in a timely manner

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data or programs generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures



  • BS degree in Materials, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Five years of relevant experience in an engineering position

Desired Characteristics:

  • MS degree in Materials, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Six to seven years relevant experience in an engineering position - preferred

  • Current or recent ASNT or NAS410 Level 2 certification in Digital Radiography / CT or equivalent

  • Knowledge of the theory and application of digital radiography or CT for NDE applications

  • Ability to work with global, distributed teams to achieve results

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

  • Familiarity with Digital Radiography / CT Inspection standards and certifications

  • Experience with volumetric computed tomography systems or iterative CT reconstruction methods

  • Functional knowledge of VGStudio, Avizo CT and Polyworks data analysis software
