Job Description Summary
GE Aerospace is seeking an experienced design engineer to support the Next Generation Products (NGP) organization. The NGP Staff Design Engineer contributes and provides technical guidance to the design and development of Edison Works NPI products including design, test and qualification of hot structural components. As a Staff Engineer, you will function with autonomy and provide guidance to others less experienced in the design process of these components. Opportunities to lead larger teams and cross-functional processes also exist.
The NGP organization is responsible for the design, analysis, integration, and support of future military engine products. Teams in the NGP space are energized with a passion for the aerospace industry and are devoted to supporting our military service members and customers. Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Execute with limited guidance mechanical design & analysis required in support of assigned hot structural components and technology which meets business standards, practices, and procedures and the product / program requirements.
Recommend and introduce standard work to meet the technical and program requirements
Formulate and implement plans to achieve mechanical design technical requirements, schedules, and contract commitments
Mentor others within the organization
Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Minimum of 5 years' experience in design engineering
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance at the Secret level.
Desired Characteristics
Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Minimum of 7 years' experience in design engineering
In depth understanding of mechanical component design and finite element analyses
Knowledge and understanding of GD&T, manufacturing, producibility
Demonstrated skills in Unigraphics NX, ANSYS
Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills with ability to organize, motivate, guide and influence technical personnel and projects
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
