General Electric NDE Development Engineer in Evendale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

The Non-destructive evaluation (NDE) development engineer is responsible for designing, developing, improving, and deploying inspection techniques. This person will be responsible for advancing state of the art inspection technologies.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead NDE development projects for aircraft engine composite and metal parts.

  • Provide technical support to Supply Chain inspection sources using state of the art inspection equipment.

  • Assist inspection sources with implementation of new NDE techniques.

  • Provide technical support to design and materials engineering teams to determine inspection requirements.

  • Provide technical support to sourcing for cost out activities.

  • Support definition of engineering NDE specifications to allow new technology introduction, address root cause corrective action, and reduce inspection cost.

  • Work closely with Quality Manufacturing Engineering colleagues to meet all business commitments.

  • Engage with external agencies to promote advancements in inspection capability and safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience developing non-destructive inspection techniques using first principles.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification; or related quality experience

  • Experience developing eddy current inspection techniques

  • Experience developing immersion ultrasonic inspection techniques

  • Experience developing flash thermography inspection techniques

  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools, drawing interpretation, and systems

  • Ability to guide and influence others

  • Project management skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
