General Electric Military Jet Engine Gearbox Design - Advanced Lead Engineer in Evendale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

This Advanced Lead Engineer role is for an Advanced Military Engine program as a gearbox design engineer. This includes activities related to the design/analysis of gearbox and accessory drive system components as well as program management including costing and maintaining budget/schedule. The position reports to an Engineering manager in Evendale, OH with responsibility for multiple Military engines. The team is comprised of various design disciplines with significant experience to mentor/train new employees.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute, with guidance, the design/analysis of gearbox components including gears, bearings, seals, structural supports, and housings.

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

  • Coordinate with senior engineers to develop and recommend approaches to meet the technical and program requirements and develop action plans to respond to issues/ problems

  • Implement plans to meet technical requirements of assigned components and systems

  • Participate in technical and program meetings as a contributor or presenter

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Lead or participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical, Aero, or other similar degree

  • At least 5 years of experience in gear, gearbox, and/or accessory drive design

  • Must be a US citizen and hold or be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance

Desired Characteristics

  • Existing US Government security clearance

  • ANSYS experience or experience with similar FEA tools

  • Jet Engine accessory drive system design experience

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
