General Electric Military Jet Engine Component Design – Lead Engineer in Evendale, Ohio
Job Description Summary
This Lead Engineer role is for an Advanced Military Jet Engine program as a component design engineer. This includes activities related to the design/analysis of jet engine components as well as program management including costing and maintaining budget/schedule. The position reports to an Engineering manager in Evendale, OH with responsibility for multiple Military engines. The team is comprised of various design disciplines with significant experience to mentor/train new employees.
Roles and Responsibilities
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of specific assigned Military jet engine components related to bearings, seals, and structural components.
Adheres to business standards, practices, procedures, and component/engine requirements.
Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise
Utilizes cross-functional communication with adjacent engineering disciplines to achieve design outcomes
Prepare and present in design reviews for specific assigned Military jet engine components
Works within assigned budget and schedule to complete component designs that meet customer requirements
Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in Engineering)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a mechanical design engineering position
Demonstrated skillset of working independently with guidance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance
Highly motivated, passionate, and exceptional communication skills
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
Experience with finite element analysis software such as ANSYS
Experience with bearing design
Established project management skills
Existing US Government security clearance
