Job Description
This job is for a Systems Engineer for the LM2500 engine line. The LM2500 is an industrial and marine variant of the aircraft engine CF6-80C2 that has been modified for to power oil & gas and electrical applications. The Advanced Lead Engineer - Systems Engineer will be the engineering leader for LM2500 programs tests planning and execution to support new product introduction, cost out, reliability improvements, engine delivery and root cause investigations of field issues. You will be responsible for establishing engine test requirements, developing engineering plans for engine test, also you will be leading the engineering teams through execution of test. This includes the engine level engineering integration and customer communications. Each product validation effort has own uniqueness; hence every project will broaden your area of expertise.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Staff Engineer- Systems Test Leader will need to grasp the breadth of our product offerings and provide guidance to the design, manufacturing, instrumentation, test and business teams.
Partner with LM2500 Senior Systems peers on product validation efforts, focusing on test preparations and execution to expected outcomes.
Coordinate with design, systems engineering peers, evaluation and cross- functional test organizations to achieve program goals (cost, schedule and data quality)
Establishing test requirements and plans, and assist resolving issues including production, instrumentation and assembly.
Responsibilities include:
Actively drive technical excellence and learning throughout the organization.
Drive root cause and containment for field issues.
Develop expertise around unique design difference that have originated from our niche market.
Support engine assembly by quickly resolving technical issues.
Determine and document instrumentation requirements for engine.
Develop and execute overall engine test plans.
Lead cost reduction strategy and drive design changes as required to realize cost reduction.
Use LEAN toolset to improve our engineering team’s talent and ability to meet key metrics.
Ensure proper use of engineering standard tools and adherence to GE Toll Gate process.
Support other GE businesses, internal and external customers, and suppliers as required
Support Product Line and Design Team to ensure rapid resolution of quality and delivery issues.
Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field issues.
Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Engineering degree from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 years' experience in advanced engine design or engine systems integration
Desired Characteristics:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering position
Willingness to learn and explore new areas with every project
Systems Engineering experience with GTEs
Engine and component test experience with GTEs
Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage projects and operational process
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong project management skills
Ability to guide and influence others
In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools
