General Electric Lead Manufacturing Specialist in Evendale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

The Combustors and Structures Manufacturing Specialist will own assigned projects and hardware from start to finish to meet the goals of the lab while adhering to the quality systems, EHS and manufacturing requirements and transition those techniques to high volume production facilities.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage program scope, schedule, and budget for areas of responsibility

  • Perform part manufacturing, assembly, and other hardware processing

  • Set-up and operate manufacturing equipment, such as lathes, mills, turn-mills, grind, and other ancillary equipment

  • Lead root cause corrective action investigations and be capable of driving error proof solution implementation

  • Work cross functionally with quality and design engineers to ensure that new processes achieve established metrics

  • Translate technical processes and methods to train and empower production employees in the manufacturing techniques required for greatest yield effectiveness & equipment capability

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments

  • Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks

  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or institution (OR a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years experience in manufacturing or engineering)

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in manufacturing or engineering

Desired Characteristics

  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering

  • Experience with aviation manufacturing technology

  • Experience setting up and operating machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders, EDMs, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision in a team environment

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings / specifications and assure compliance with requirements during processing

  • Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
