GE Aerospace Lead Engineer – Rotordynamics in Evendale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

As the Engine Dynamics Lead Engineer, you will develop and analyze rotordynamic models to influence new engine designs and support legacy designs using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. You will support full engine tests and rig tests to validate designs and present results in technical and program reviews. Furthermore, you will team with design, Systems, and the customer to work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

Roles and Responsibilities

As an Engine Dynamics Lead Engineer, you will:

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

  • Define instrumentation, monitor vibration testing of aircraft engines / rigs, post-process & summarize test results, and correlate dynamics models to test data

  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project

  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

  • Participate on process teams to establish and drive dynamics best practices including supporting and enhancing the development of 2D and 3D analytical dynamics tools and the engine vibration testing process

  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers in technical and program reviews

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in design engineering OR a Master of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science and 2 years of experience in design engineering OR a PhD in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science and 1 year of experience in design engineering

Desired Characteristics

  • Familiarity with vibration analysis, vibration testing and rotor dynamics’ analysis methods

  • Understanding of NASTRAN, LSDYNA or other finite element computer codes (modeling and dynamic analysis)

  • Familiarity with Hypermesh finite element pre-processor

  • Familiarity with Matlab/Python

  • Interest in continuing to improve standard processes and improve best practices

  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems

  • Solid oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams

  • Strong problem-solving skills

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
