General Electric Lead Engineer, Fluid Systems in Evendale, Ohio

Role Summary:GE Aviation is seeking a Lead Fluid Systems Engineer for our Controls Team. The Lead Engineer will design, analyze, test, and integrate fluid system (fuel, air, & oil) with the engine and related subsystems during the development and qualification / certification of jet engines. The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of fuel delivery, air valve, actuation, and engine lubrication systems and will apply their knowledge to resolve technical problems that impact goals and deadlines.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Execute the analysis, design, test, and integration of fluid system systems to meet business standards and program / product requirements

  • Develop and execute physics-based, thermal, transient, and dynamic fluid system analytical models

  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers

  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated

  • Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives

  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue

  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Manage external suppliers


  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering position


  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Desired Characteristics:

  • Existing government security clearance

  • System design & integration experience

  • Work experience with fuel delivery, air valve, actuation, and engine lubrication systems and components (pumps, actuators, fuel controls, air valves, oil tanks)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude

  • Analytical modelling skills/ e xperience (MATLAB, Simulink & NPSS)

  • 3D modelling skills / experience (Unigraphics)

  • Experience with multiple subsystems architectures, or gas turbine external configurations

  • Experience in design, analysis, testing, assembly, and/or technical publications activities of aircraft engines
