General Electric Human Factors Engineer in Evendale, Ohio
Job Description Summary
The Human Factors Engineer will report to the Evendale site Edison Works Human Factors Manager and be responsible for contributing to the design and development of products predominately for military customers by working with design and systems engineers and directly with the customer.
As the Human Factors Engineer, you will:
Apply theory, principles, data, and methods within the engineering design process to assure proper interaction between products, systems, and processes with the user.
Collaborates with Project/Product Support to establish Human Factors/ergonomic/usability-related requirements for new products that align with the internal Maintainability and Human Factors design practice.
Participate in Human Factors root cause analysis efforts and the development of corrective actions (e.g., field maintenance issues, Quality investigations, technical publication improvements, software interfaces, etc.)
Review and critique instructional documentation (e.g., maintenance manuals, service bulletins, assembly planning) to improve usability and reduce error potential
Contribute to the development of Human Factors tools, training, and best practices to drive improvements with internal and external customers
Participate in cross-functional projects and present outcomes to business leaders.
Obtain and maintain government security clearance at Secret level and work within a controlled secure environment.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Human Factors or related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Factors Engineering
Proven facilitation and collaboration skills
Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams
Interest in being a self-starter with your eye constantly on problem solving and driving solutions
Exceptional presentation skills and ability to convey technical information effectively
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment
Keen listener and innate drive to succeed
Working knowledge of Human Factors applications, including but not limited to UX/UI design, anthropometry, biomechanics, ergonomics, and cognitive psychology.
Working knowledge of relevant HF standards and guidance documents (MIL-STD-1472, MIL-STD-46855, HF-STD-001, HF-STD-004)
