Job Description Summary

The Global Fire Protection & Safety Engineer will manage a business-wide programmatic approach to fire, explosion, & natural hazard loss prevention within GE Aviation. The successful candidate shall ensure GE Aviation meets FM Global, consensus, and regulatory standards requirements for fire & life safety. This individual will serve as the loss prevention, fire code compliance, and life safety subject matter expert to GE Aviation global facilities and shall provide safety engineering support to global site EHS & Facilities teams.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Primary Aviation Liaison with FM Global, GE Corporate Insurance, and GE’s insurance broker, AON.

  • Develop multi-year fire and loss prevention project master plans to ensure GE Aviation facilities obtain Highly Protected Risk (HPR) status and have a plan to close all FM Global recommendations

  • Lead multiple global fire and loss prevention capital projects and initiatives (stemming from the master plan) and ensure those projects meet established KPIs (on-time, and fully spent).

  • Accurately forecast and obtain the funds necessary to complete multi-site multi-year loss prevention projects stemming from the project master plan.

  • Regularly track & report the progress and financials of multiple fire protection & loss prevention projects

  • Coordinate with FM Global to ensure site loss prevention projects address FM Global recommendations

  • Source and interface with consultants for specialized issues such as fire code compliance, dust hazard analyses, & explosion safety.

  • Collaborate closely with FM Global, GE Corporate Insurance, and Aviation facilities to ensure sites understand expectations, develop action plans, & complete all FM Global recommendations

  • Develop and implement loss prevention guidelines and tools

  • Lead & participate in program and regulatory compliance audits.

  • Provide consultation to internal/external project teams to incorporate loss prevention measures into capital projects & new plant construction.

  • Consult with projects to ensure designs meet regulatory requirements and FM Global standards

  • Ensure Aviation facilities accurately identify root causes of fires & share learnings with other Aviation sites.

  • Develop training materials and conduct training sessions on fire protection and other EHS disciplines

  • Track EHS, fire, and loss prevention program KPIs, report progress to senior leadership, and develop plans to correct performance when KPIs are not met.

  • Perform other EHS and facilities related tasks as assigned

  • Partner with Global EHS & Facilities Crisis Leader to drive improvement in Emergency Response programs”


Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or Associates degree in a

technical discipline from an accredited university with the requirement for candidate to obtain Bachelor’s degree within 3 years of hire date.


  • Ability to travel domestically and globally up to 25%
