Job Description Summary
A proactive Flight Safety program is a critical component in the success of GE Aviation and our customers. As part of the Edison Works Chief Engineer’s Office reporting to the Manager of Edison Works Flight Safety, the Flight Safety Engineer will provide independent data-driven leadership in the fielded and new product military aircraft engines program areas. As a Flight Safety Engineer, you will be a disciplined, high energy technical leader throughout internal and external Engineering organizations.
Roles and Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive program plans to execute the safety objectives of the assigned program
Lead new product safety programs using the Edison Works NPI Safety Process
Acquire customer feedback and voice of the customer
Establish product technical and program requirements
Perform and support design trade studies and periodic design reviews
Participate in and support technical meetings where safety input is required
Provide guidance and support to other engineering functions or departments
Assist with coordination and completion of Flight Readiness Reviews
Develop and deliver customer contractual deliverables
Provide safety engineering support and leadership to teams working on development and mishap prevention initiatives.
Leverage expertise to investigate and lead problem resolution in the field
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
Develop and implement training modules
Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university
Minimum of 3 years of aircraft engine engineering experience
Must have the ability to obtain a clearance.
Proven facilitation and collaboration skills
Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams
Interest in being a self-starter with your eye constantly on problem solving and driving solutions
Highly motivated, passionate and exceptional communication skills
Keen listener and innate drive to succeed
