General Electric Evendale Coating Technician (TA) in Evendale, Ohio

Role Summary:

The Coating Fastworks Lab develops and transitions new manufacturing processes and produces advanced prototype hardware for development engines. The role of Evendale Coating Technician (TA) involves development of metallurgical and chemical processes for aviation hardware such as electroplating, diffusion coatings, and vacuum coating processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, as Evendale Coating Technician (TA), you will:

  • Operate full scale equipment such as: vacuum furnaces, atmospheric furnaces, electroplating cells, and thermal spray equipment (including robots)

  • Develop new, turnkey workstations for deployment into Supply Chain shops, including design, prototyping, and validating workstation performance

  • Create planning for assigned operations that complies with all quality requirements

  • Conduct experiments on assigned processes, working with engineers to develop and document the processing

  • Take ownership for assigned lab areas including maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, dealing with internal customers and work prioritization

  • Work from complex product drawings, manuals, specifications, and other company / customer specifications

  • Maintain a strong emphasis on environmental, health, and safety issues, and assure assigned areas remain in compliance with all EHS requirements Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in a technical discipline from an accredited school or institution (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):

  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and assure compliance with requirements during processing

  • Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience with one or more of the following process technologies: vacuum systems and furnaces robotic programming thermal spray atmospheric coaters and controls electromechanical systems and controls (PLCs and actuation systems) and chemical processing (electroplating, cleaning, stripping, etc.)

  • Experience with NX (Unigraphics) for design of fixtures and / or toolpath programming Experience with machining technology and fabricating simple fixtures

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
