Job Description Summary

The Operational Controller for GE Engine Services, Customized Services Agreements (CSAs), is an integral leader within the Controllership team supporting the overall mission to provide timely, high quality financial reporting for use in the GE Engine Services CSA business. This role is responsible for driving technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to deliver accurate actual financial reporting and analysis within GE’s portfolio of long-term engine services contracts (CSAs).

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with US GAAP in the consolidated financial statements

Ensure integrity of financial reporting data via implementation and execution of controls within the CSA accounting team.

Ensure accuracy of GE Aerospace’s financial results by recognizing and preventing misrepresentation, concealment, or omission of information

Support other accounting and auditing processes, including external and internal auditors and the statutory accounting team, as required.

Responsible for general accounting and policy application & process administration for all cycles including revenue recognition, receivables/payables, intercompany, etc.. Understand and interpret applicable Enterprise Standards, SOP and Process Maps to deliver globally competitive financial process/accounting services.

Manage a team of senior professionals. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise within Accounting Operations, requiring strong commercial awareness and ability to influence the development of strategy within own area, including control of resources and policy formulation.

Lead functional teams and projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. Needs to guide others to consider a different point of view, and appreciate downstream complexity of upstream decisions and actions.

Proactively drive communication of financial accounting topics across a wide group of stakeholders including CSA business operations, finance, FP&A, and risk. This will include communicating difficult concepts, require influencing other’s opinions on particular topics, and guiding others to consider different points of view.

Impact the team’s ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. Work is subject to functional policy objectives. Regularly advise management in the function and/or in the business. Support decision making about important subjects. High or moderate levels of evaluative judgment are frequently required to achieve outcomes required.

Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems that impact the function. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

CPA/CA or Masters of Accountancy or Business Administration

7 or more years of experience in accounting (technical and/or operational)

Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems

Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects

Proven analytical and organizational ability

Proven capability to document, plan, market and execute several projects simultaneously

Proven ability to deliver results on-time

Ability to influence and drive results in a matrixed organization

Ability to anticipate, communicate, report and resolve challenges

Ability to work non-standard business hours as required to support global commercial teams or quarter close

Effective problem identification and solution skills

Strong interpersonal skills and professional style, including both oral and written communication

  • Experience with GE Enterprise Standard Chart of Accounts, Hyperion Essbase, SAP, Oracle accounting / ERP systems, Microsoft Office products is preferred, but not required
