General Electric Bearings Buyer in Evendale, Ohio

Role Summary:

The Bearings Buyer will be responsible for establishing multi-year contracts for both production and spares requirements while supporting military cost proposals and small business objectives. Focus will be on building long-term relationships to ensure capacity exceeds demand requirements with complex supply chain.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, as the Bearings Buyer, you will:

  • Understand alternate part numbers and working with Fulfillment / CAM to ensure correct configuration on order

  • Manage schedule splits on both the spares and kit level

  • Ensure engineering has funding to work part qualification for engine tests

  • Complete terms and condition agreements for supply base

  • Read and understand the procurement manual requirements for documenting military POs

  • Understand and execute Sourcing strategy for gearbox commodity

  • Execute contracts quickly and efficiently to ensure lead-time is provided to suppliers for production

  • Maintain unplaced req report

  • Respond quickly to military cost proposals and ensure data entered is accurate and complete

  • Negotiate total product cost to ensure deflation targets are met for the business

  • Build network of engineers and MAEs to initiate SPS documents

  • Understand the CPD process and buying responsibilities during this process

  • Define and improve Sourcing strategies at business or plant level

  • May also include management of regional & business teams

  • Develop new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organizations

  • Balance both tactical execution with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost reduction projects

  • Work together with high level people from the business at SPB and EB level

  • Specify needs, communicate about project approach and present outcomes of research done

  • Provide technical / commercial assistance to Commodity Buyers to develop awareness of manufacturing processes and improve product knowledge

  • Actively participate in supplier performance reviews

  • Advise Functional managers regarding projects, processes and procedures within own field

  • Contribute to project as a team member or leads small projects Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Sourcing)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Buying and Procurement ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):
