Job Description Summary

As the Americas Customs Operations Leader, you will be responsible for leading the region operations team of 2-4 team members, covering 4 countries, USA, MX, BR, CA. Management of Customs Brokers and Customs Vendors to assure for 100,000 shipments annually execute to requirements. Oversee 30 GE sites export and import process conformance to requirements, lead corrective actions as needed; manage government agency compliance reporting, replies, and audit participation; and special program execution. Lead global external audit preparation and audit processes. Own KPI’s to monitor Enterprise Standard and regulatory conformance to reduce risk and optimize process lead time

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Operate within a global model and execute the strategy for Customs operations in the region

  • Ensure the pre-declaration review is performed including confirmation that valuation, classification, country of origin and any applicable special program documentation is complete before an import or export occurs

  • Work with approved agents to support daily customs clearances and own shipment issue resolution

  • Ensure there are trained personnel supporting the Customs activities in the region

  • Identify Customs risks areas and develop actionable plans and procedures to mitigate those risks

  • Evaluate internal controls and drive implementation of recommended improvement plans

  • Prepare periodic reports and metrics on duty, quality, savings, opportunities, risks, accomplishments and value creation

  • Lead Regional Customs Councils

  • Lead business level risk reviews and action plans for risk reduction

  • Manage local Customs agency relationships

  • Respond to Internal/External requests & investigations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or institution

  • A minimum of 5 years in customs processes

  • US Customs Broker License
