The position is for an advance combat engine fan design engineer. This engine program is a generational opportunity in technology advancement and increase in engine capability. In this role you will be responsible for the design, manufacturing, and test for fan rotating, structures or vane components.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Hardware ownership of a fan component.

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned hardware using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

  • Developing conceptual knowledge of professional discipline. May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in broad area.

  • Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience. Understands how work of own team contributes to the area.

  • Resolves issues using established procedures consisting of design practices and engineering design reviews. Consults supervisor and chief engineers for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.

  • Collaborates with others to solve issues. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Exchanges technical information and asks questions and checks for understanding.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace Engineering) or high school diploma/GED with 6 years' experience in design engineering).

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in design engineering

  • Ability to obtain US government security clearance.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Strong understanding of basic engineering principles related to discipline

  • Knowledge of tools such as CAD, finite element analysis and coding languages.

  • Experience with turbo machinery design, engine structures including designing for composites, and rotating part design.

  • Engineering design using Design for 6 Sigma tools

  • 5 years of engineering work experience, or a master’s degree in engineering and 3 years of engineering work experience.

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
