Job Description Summary
Activities contributing to the design and development of test enabling hardware to enable engine testing, finding solutions to problems related to NPI, Field investigations, production and/or MRO support and developing systems to achieve this goal. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing hardware and components. Impacts approaches, projects, and programs in the Test Systems Engineering department or other departments indirectly, e.g., DETO (Development Engine Test Operations), PETO (Production Engine Test Operations), PTO (Peebles Test Operations), CTO (Component Test Operations), MSO(Military Systems Operations), ATO (Advanced Technologies Operations) and AfterMarket Solutions.
Impacts quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of own team. Has input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has medium-autonomy, requiring mid-levels of operational judgment.
Job Description
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and some electrical engineering for all product lines.
Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy, policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
Experience with use and application of design best practices; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology maturation and/or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

The Engine Test Enabling Hwd Advanced Lead Engineer may participate in mentoring activities/tasks of less experience engineers (PB, LPB2), EEDPs, Co-Ops and may participate in DB38 activities.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited university OR college degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with at least 6 years of experience in Mechanical Design.
Ability to understand mechanical components and assembly drawings
Experience working LEAN events, or leading teams to execute Lean goals.
Experience working with multi-cultural teams or GE Aviation global sites (GEIQ/BEC/ EDC/TTC)
Experience working rotor-shaft, turbofan or AEO engine product lines
Experience working with heat exchangers, ball joints, metal braided hoses, fuel carts mechanical components
Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.

Desired Characteristics
Experience on Bleed Systems (engine, facility or test enabling harwdare), proficiency using FlowSimulator and experience with ANSYS for stress, modal, HCF/LCF analysis
Previous Experience as a DP author or owner
Experience supporting engine test prep activities at Peebles Test Operations or other test sites
Previous Experience in the Test Systems Engineering department or GE Engines hardware design
Previous Experience in Test Enabling Hardware design and manufacturing
Experience working with GE Aviation Sourcing departments
Working knowledge of Clarity (for STAS-like funding sources), iProcurement, SSS, and Purchased Services entities
Experience designing orifice plates, secondary systems and experience with control valve suppliers.
Able to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance.
