General Electric Advanced Lead Engineer - Advanced Military Materials in Evendale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

The GE Edison Works Engineering Materials Systems (EMS) organization has an opening for a materials engineer supporting the advanced military space. This individual will work cross-functionally to invent, apply, and mature new technologies for next generation products. The engineer who fills this position will partner and work with personnel from various engineering disciplines, management, Supply Chain, and laboratory technicians every day in both office and lab environments.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

  • Plan and manage engineering budget and resources to execute assigned projects

  • Develop new, innovative Material and Process (M&P) technologies that can increase product performance, increase part life / durability, and / or reduce product cost

  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project

  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a US Security Clearance

  • Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Materials Science or related field from an accredited university or college

  • 6 years work experience in engineering

  • Ability to work on-site >75% of the time

Desired Characteristics

  • 3+ years in high temperature ceramic materials development or application

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
