Job Description Summary
• Develop and maintain Thermal Systems Design (TSD) engineering software for GE Aviation’ss Advanced Design Tools (ADT) organization. TSD software comprises a Finite Element based heat transfer and a one-dimensional flow solver. Job will consist of improving TSD modeling capabilities for the design and analysis of GE turbomachinery products and related accessories.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Interface with global ADT TSD developers to add preprocessing, solver and postprocessing capability to the ADT maintained Heat Transfer tools suite.
Interface with ADT external TSD tool users to validate and test added software capability.
Present modeling and validation results to relevant TSD design boards, leadership and technical experts.
Participate with global ADT TSD developers and relevant design boards to prioritize development activities based on business need.
Update TSD tools stakeholders with the status and progress of ADT Heat Transfer tool development initiatives, milestones and roadmaps.
Ability to work effectively with a matrixed leadership and global technical team.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
A solid understanding of heat transfer and fluid mechanics including knowledge of conduction, convection, radiation and one-dimensional flow modeling.
A background in developing or applying heat transfer or one-dimensional software tools for turbomachinery or related accessories including lubrication systems, heat exchangers or gearboxes.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
Desired Characteristics
Experience developing Finite Element based heat transfer tools
FORTRAN programming background
Software compilation background using Microsoft Visual Studio.
Familiarity deploying software tools to a Linux based High Performance Cluster (HPC) computer environment.
ANSYS APDL programming background.
Experience using Altair Hyperworks and Hyperview
