The Advanced Design Tools (ADT) team is a software organization which develops and maintains a portfolio of engineering tools for GE Aviation (commercial and military divisions). This portfolio covers a wide range of applications, including scientific simulation, modeling, visualization. As a member of ADT, you will develop and support new and existing geometry creation tools for the purpose of automating the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software in that portfolio. The primary area of CFD applications will be in turbomachinery aerodynamics prediction and modeling: Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) and Large Eddy Simulations (LES). Your contributions will be directly aligned with GE Aviation’s technology initiatives to invent the future of flight.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Plan, Develop and Support geometry tools for robust automation of CFD meshing/modeling for RANS and LES solvers

  • Work with a global team of tool developers to create more automated CFD geometry tools for our meshing needs for aero design (for RANS and LES)

  • Get to know the customers and build a reputation of tool support with them to learn their needs and develop strategies to cut labor intensive and long cycle time efforts from their CFD design practices (typically spent in geometry cleanup for meshing)

  • Learn and support CFD geometry tools for CFD analysis of turbomachinery component design.

  • Train designers on tool products and execution

  • Collaborate with users to identify issue, research problem, and propose solutions.

  • Work with the designers to create aerodynamics design best practices

  • Implement tools design, system validation, and release processes to ensure tool quality

  • Support design teams across GE Aviation: spanning multiple countries including US, Poland, India, and Mexico.

  • Support military and commercial tool applications.

  • Provide timely communications on significant issues.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or related engineering disciplines

  • Minimum 7 years engineering experience in geometry creation and cleanup for CFD modeling (via CAD packages)

  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience in automation of geometry creation/cleanup tool development

  • Strong NX-CAD modeling background

  • Strong engineering software programming skills – C/C++/C#, Qt, Visual Studio, NX Open, shell scripting, customization

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong cross-functional (IT/Engineering), teaming, and communication skills.

  • Customer focused

  • Location where work needs to be performed is Evendale, OH

  • Must be US Citizen

Desired Characteristics:

  • Engineering experience in turbo-machinery fundamentals and analysis

  • Familiarity with meshing experience for CFD modeling (primarily focused on geometry requirements for robust meshing) (RANS and/or LES)

  • Strong skill in using and customizing engineering analysis software applications

  • Strong skills in developing, coding, and deploying design tools

  • Solid oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer requirements and draft plans to meet them

  • Demonstrated FastWorks and Agile operation

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-task environment
