General Electric GE Transportation Leadership Program: Operations in Erie, Pennsylvania

Role Summary:

GE Transportation Leadership Program in Operations accelerates development of entry-level talent and produces leaders capable of meeting the challenges facing the Supply Chain (inclusive of manufacturing, sourcing, and logistics) and Environment, Health & Safety functions at GE.

Essential Responsibilities:

GE Transportation Leadership Program in Operations is a 2-year program consisting of 3 eight-month rotations that allow members to build leadership and functional skills through challenging rotational assignments and world-class training.

Typical rotations include one or more of the following:

  • Manufacturing Shop Operations Supervisor

  • Sourcing/Materials Management (procurement, material flow)

  • Technical – (lean, manufacturing engineer / process engineer)

  • Environment, Health & Safety (site operations support, EHS media support)

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A four-year Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Environmental Engineering or Supply Chain Management degree

  • GPA greater than or equal to 3.0/4.0 Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in engineering or manufacturing/supply chain (preferred)

Relocation requirements:

Below are the most common sites for rotations in our Operations Leadership Program, however due to the wide spread footprint of our business it is not an all-encompassing list.

  • Erie and Grove City, PA; Fort Worth, TX; Chicago & Hanover Park, IL; Las Vegas, NV; Kansas City, MO among others. Candidates must be willing to relocate on program and for the first off program role with Transportation.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Preference will be given to persons with: a major in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or Environmental Engineering and Supply Chain Management

  • For the OMLPs with a focus on EHS, a four-year degree in: Engineering or Environmental Eng.; Environment, Health & Safety; General Science; Industrial Hygiene/Safety; Environmental Science

  • Ability to solve problems in a team & manufacturing environment / strong leadership skills

  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills; ability to connect with all levels of the organization showing openness, transparency & humility

  • A strong commitment to a career in supply chain or EHS

Operations Leadership Program members have the opportunity to experience the different functions within the supply chain, state of-the-art methods of manufacturing, sourcing, and to be exposed to environment, health, and safety technical and business aspects within a business through structured course work and practical application. Coursework includes: Supply Chain Management, LEAN Manufacturing Operations, Environmental Health and Safety, Project Management, Negotiation Skills and Business Acumen. GE's focus on process integration, from design to sourcing through manufacturing and delivery, has been critical to meeting our customers' expectations. The Leadership Program is designed to successfully integrate the supply chain with other key processes in Transportation. The experience gained during the rotational assignments positions members for accelerated career growth within the supply chain.
