Role Summary:

The GE Transportation Leadership Program - Engineering is an intensive program for people who have a passion for technology, a drive for technical excellence & share in Transportation’s core values. The program is designed to accelerate participants' professional development through intense technical training & a variety of business-critical assignments. Graduates have the technical & business foundation to proactively and continually make innovative contributions to Transportation's future.

Essential Responsibilities:

The GE Transportation Leadership Program - Engineering is a 2-year rotational program. It consists of four, 6-month rotations that are intended to provide a broad exposure to the engineering field leading to successful off Program placement. This program also requires continuous education through advanced studies and in-house courses and workshops. The program cultivates technical problem-solving skills via advanced engineering coursework, formal reports and presentations to senior leadership, in addition to valuable work experience. Individuals joining the program in the US will rotate among the Transportation domestic business locations. Examples of those locations include Erie, PA, Grove City, PA, Melbourne, FL, Fort Worth, TX, Chicago, IL, and several others. The applicant must be location flexible and willing to relocate while on program as part of the program requirements and business needs. Preference will be given to persons that have prior intern, co-op experience.

In addition, you will:

  • Plan and perform assigned tasks within the framework of areas’ schedules, budget, quality and cost constraints while maintaining accuracy and thoroughness

  • Demonstrate ability to understand and apply engineering fundamentals in the business environment

  • Demonstrate analytical / problem solving through number orientation

  • Collaborate with manager in setting realistic and challenging operation goals

  • Contribute to their accomplishment

  • Propose new analyses, techniques and methodologies with respect to specific area of responsibility where applicable

  • Lead, participate and/or contribute in design reviews & product validation

  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing environments and requirements

  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and agility in coping up with real-life business situations


  • Four-year technical degree with ABET Accreditation in: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science

  • Overall GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 (based upon 4.0 scale)

  • Willingness and ability to relocate with the United States for assignments

  • Mechanical Engineers with demonstrated structural, packaging, thermal/fluid system, diesel engine, lubrication, gear system, mechanical propulsion, or Testing/Validation domain knowledge or expertise

  • Software/Computer Engineers with demonstrated embedded software, real time operating system, FPGA development, Simulation, Testing/Validation, or other relevant software development domain knowledge or expertise

  • Software design and integration experience of the control systems
