General Electric Senior Embedded Software Engineer in Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Role Summary:

To create outstanding software solutions for our global customers by contributing to the development of new and existing products working within a small specialist team

Essential Responsibilities:

• Design, build, test and maintain world class software solutions

• Contribute towards the technical appraisal of new software solutions

• Provide technical support to the operations, power systems and commercial teams.

• Perform such other tasks as are consistent with the position and in support of the Head of your team

• Act in the best interests GE at all times

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Graduate with degree (2:1 or above) in electrical/electronic engineering, computing or a related discipline

• Excellent programming skills in C and C+• Experience of Embedded System Development

• Experience in both Linux and Windows environments would be an advantage

• A working understanding of Power System protection, control and/or operation

• Excellent understanding of power system and automation protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP3.0, IEC 60870-5-104 and/or IEEE C37.118

• Proven experience in developing real-time software for Power Systems applications

• Excellent knowledge of IEC61131-3 PLC (Programmable Language Controller) language for SCADA applications, including ST and FBD standards

• Experience with Matlab/Simulink, demonstrable skills in developing production quality applications using these tools

• Working knowledge of automated code generation and testing workflow from Mathworks

• Excellent communication skills

• To be pro-active and able to work autonomously

• Work well with others within a team

• Manage time effectively and work to deadlines

• Strong relevant experience

• UK travel may be required
