General Electric Leads Benefits Specialist in Detroit, Michigan

Role Summary:

Own, design and provide expert support for the broad range of Compensation & Benefit activities and services, including Compensation, Benefits and Global Mobility.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • The Lead Benefits Specialist is responsible for providing benefits support to all GE Aviation employees in Grand Rapids,Muskegon and other Aviation sites

  • Responsible for ensuring employees have access to information and services necessary to understand and manage the opportunities within the GE employee benefits plans, including new hire support, retirement counseling and other life / job events

  • Support the administration of FMLA and Leave of absence programs according to Company policies and state and federal regulations

  • Provide a central point of contact for the collection and dissemination of information on benefits plansin multiple communication channels

  • Assist all levels of employees, HR team members, and management in resolving problems related to the delivery of benefits (claims escalations, prior authorization for RX, retirement issues)

  • Provide benefits support and counsel to Union Relations and Legal teams regarding grievances and dispute resolutions

  • Lead benefit delivery projects with vendors as needed, including vendors for various plans, consultants and sourcing team

  • Support management and Union Relations team during contract negotiations

  • The candidate can be based in either Grand Rapids or Muskegon and will travel between the two sites to support the teams as needed


  • Bachelor's degree from anaccredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of4 years of experience in a human resources or benefits position)

  • Minimum of 5 years experience inHR including experience in Compensation and Benefits
