Job Description Summary

The GE Hydro Solutions Regional Sourcing Leader for Americas will lead the sourcing activities in support of GE Hydro for the North America and Latin American regions (primarily Canada, USA and Brazil). The role requires seasoned leadership skills, strong knowledge of sourcing, projects and quality processes, tools and systems as well as the ability to collaborate with and influence key decision makers.

The role will be accountable for creating a competitive advantage for GE Hydro at regional level by leveraging Sourcing organization and processes (commodity strategies, project tendering and execution, supplier quality, external logistics) in conjunction with other GE Hydro functions (Engineering, Product line, Quality, …).

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Build optimal organization with the right size to support needs of “New”, “Rehabilitation” and “Services” to achieve business goals and objectives, always consistently with GE Hydro Global Sourcing structure.

  • This includes (where applicable) the management of Sourcing sub-functions : Commodity management, Procurement, Tendering Sourcing, Sourcing initiatives, Sourcing Quality (Supplier Quality Engineers and Inspectors, Quality management System), Logistics/Customs experts.

  • Collaborate and build on functional expertise to comply with project specific purchasing requirements and restrictions in the Americas region and across GE Hydro Sourcing where required. Ex: US Government FAR and small business; BNDS financing restrictions in Brazil, Quebec local content requirements.

  • Drive Sourcing execution from “Inquiry To Order (ITO)” to “Order to Remittance (OTR)”; ensure application of global sourcing guidelines to optimize competitiveness of tenders and performance in project execution; making sure that specific regional needs and GE Hydro global sourcing strategies are aligned.

  • This includes the creation of dedicated Sourcing strategy for “delegated” commodities.

  • Manage supplier base in the region (qualification, development, panel, relationships) in full alignment with Global Commodity leaders (for global / coordinated commodities).

  • Develop a strong relationship with business operations and engineering teams to partner in driving key sourcing and business metrics including cost, cash, supplier quality and fulfillment OTD metrics for the region.

  • Ensure full compliance with sourcing policies, procedures and export control regulations in strong collaboration with Sourcing Operations and Finance leadership team

  • Implement continuous improvement activities in all areas of responsibility to improve operating performance and productivity.

  • Be Sourcing representative for the regional business: collect forecast and backlog, understand sales and regional business strategy, represent / involve proactively Sourcing Org. in ITO & OTR, contribute to global sourcing strategy plan and promote it, ensure proper communication of sourcing performance and recognition by region and project

  • Create a regional consolidated view of purchasing need (S&OP, backlog, …) and contribute to the development of competitive global / regional sourcing strategy across commodities; either by participating actively to global commodity reviews, either leading delegated commodity strategy.

  • Support teams in case of specific issues / escalation process (claims, negotiations...) with suppliers

  • Monitor Sourcing performance of his team through appropriate and accurate KPIs and drive improvement action plan accordingly.

  • Support product optimization actions in connection with Engineering center of excellence and Product Management teams.

  • Supervise management of suppliers in considered respective region in close collaboration with Global Commodity leaders.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Purchasing or Economics profession

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in multi commodities and operational purchasing

Desired Characteristics

  • Office Software (Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook, Visio)

  • Perfectly fluent in English, regional languages as key differentiators : French and Portuguese

  • Extensive Sourcing experience; including Procurement or other Sub-functions such as Supplier Quality, Transportation & Logistics

  • Demonstrate a track record of leading organizations to high levels of performance

  • Ability to cope with multiple complex situations daily and make decision with the right sense of urgency

The salary range for this position if based in the US is $120,000-$140,000 (USD).The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for variable incentive compensation.
