Job Description Summary
The GE Aviation Electrical Power business is leading the way in the application of advanced technologies towards the development and delivery of high-performance products for aerospace applications. The Sub-Section Manager - Electrical Components will lead and grow a talented group of Power Electronics Engineering team members, who drive the implementation of our advanced power technologies across the GE Aviation Power product line. In this role, you will oversee a team who is responsible for the requirements, design, implementation, and validation of various Power Electronic Components/Architectures for GE Aviation Power products.
At GE Aviation in Dayton, OH the EPISCenter is the headquarters for all of Aviation Power Engineering. At this facility you have an opportunity to put your engineering training and skills to use. Our Engineers are focused and challenged on developing new technologies and delivering state of the art products such as Hybrid Electric aircraft, the latest military platforms, and SiC technology to name a few. Plus, if you like hands-on work, there is also a 155,000 sq ft lab that includes 6 high power test cells totaling 15 MW, an EMI chamber, an electronics lab, a rapid build prototype lab, and a real time simulator lab with all the latest equipment.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the Power Electronics team that presently comprises roughly 3-5 engineers responsible for the requirements, design, implementation, and validation of various Power Electronic Components/Architectures for GE Aviation Power products.
Lead the allocation of system functional requirements
Work with system engineering team to capture relevant power electronic requirements and ensure these are satisfied with the overall product design
Coordinate with test team to ensure product is fully verified against requirements and identified issues are resolved
Lead the utilization of Power Electronic requirement/simulation tools to support various activities throughout the life cycle phases.
Provide leadership and technical direction for assigned program tasks and personnel
Drive Power Electronic component/Architecture development to provide state-of-the-art solutions for internal and external customers
Lead the team to optimize resources utilizing efficiency to ensure program schedule commitments
Provide the technical focus on the strategic business plans
Maintain broad awareness of efforts within group to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs
Define roles and responsibilities for assigned personnel
Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching, and counseling
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's of Engineering degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum of ten years of experience in an engineering role
Minimum of two years of leadership, project management or technical leadership role within an engineering environment

Desired Characteristics
Master's of Engineering degree from an accredited college or university
Previous experience in development of Aviation Electrical Power Generation and Conversion products & technology
Previous power electronics experience in the Aviation Industry
Effective team building and project management ability
