Job Description Summary
As a New Technology Introduction (NTI) Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for driving growth in technology by researching market and customer needs and developing innovative ideas to meet those needs. This engineer will also work to identify novel opportunities to differentiate Unison's fluid delivery and thermal products and be a leader in the technology and on the team.
Roles and Responsibilities
- The Lead Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business, program, and process goals for the NTI portion of the business. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
In addition, you will:
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
Participate in collaborative teams to develop new technology through Technology Readiness Level 6
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Provide regular project status updates to key stakeholders
Document technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
Mentor and give guidance to less experienced engineers
Support other GE businesses, suppliers, and internal / external customers
Serve as a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in order to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities
Leverage expertise to resolve problems in the field or during the manufacturing processes
Make recommendations after analysis of the data using lean and quality tools
Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace / Aeronautical, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry from an accredited College or University
Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience in aerospace or industrial products
Experience with electrodeposition
Ability to work with engineering analysis and simulation tools
Engineering project leadership experience
Strong research skills and experience in applying theoretical knowledge to solve industrial problems
New technology development experience
Background material science knowledge
Proficiency in the use of standard materials laboratory test equipment and definition of material test methodology
Experience with additive manufacturing
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong customer service mindset with ability to adapt to change
Six Sigma training or equivalent quality training
