General Electric EPISCenter Staff Engineer - Bid & Proposal Systems Engineering in Dayton, Ohio

Role Summary:

The Systems Engineering Staff Engineer will develop practical and innovative ways to meet the customer needs as part of the Bid and Proposal Team. In the Systems Engineering Staff Engineer role, you will be responsible for work that is less defined in scope, utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect short-term and long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

Additionally, as the Systems Engineering Staff Engineer, Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the execution of design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

  • Recommend approaches to meet the technical, schedule, and cost requirements for the customer

  • Formulate, implement, and execute plans to achieve cost effective technical solutions

  • Create compliance matrices and intellectual property assignments

  • and Write technical and cost volumes

  • Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems

  • Provide technical leadership to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments

  • Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks

  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of engineering experience)

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering Desired Characteristics:

  • Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to guide and influence others

  • Strong process orientation in approach to work

  • Experience in costing non-recurring and recurring engineering, executing projects, and building teams

  • Project management and team organization experience

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
