General Electric Engineering Project Planner/Master Scheduler in Dayton, Ohio
Job Description Summary
The Engineering Project Planner/Master Scheduler plays a significant part in the Planning and Monitoring/Controlling Process Groups within Project Management. The Project Planner will team-up with the Engineering Project Manager to form a cadence of actions and reviews that will help the project teams perform to the projects requirements and deliverables, on time and within budget.
Tasks will include schedule creation, schedule updates, earned value management, variance analysis, change management, resource demand profiles, multiple reporting documents and project dashboard reviews.

Roles and Responsibilities
Ensures project implementation as well as work packages and constraints are accurately integrated into project planning scenario.
Responsible for monitoring progress and producing accurate projections.
Ensures other functions have access to accurate current reports and projections and relevant reports are available for the customer.
Will deliver on a Project Management Cadence that includes Schedule Management, Earned Value Management, Variance Analysis, Change Management, Forecasting, Demand Profiles, and other project deliverables, related to reporting and Integrated Product Team meetings.
Basic understanding of key business drivers; IE: EVMS, uses this understanding to recommend project actions to the Project Manager and other supporting team members.
Understanding of how work of own team, integrates with other teams, and contributes to the area. (Engineering, Finance, Sales, PMO)
Will have autonomy to make informed suggestions to the Engineering teams regarding project execution.
May provide guidance in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures.
Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
Will participate in Director and Executive level meetings that address Project Health and may help the Project Manager deliver the projects message to leadership.
A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills.
Develops strong internal customer relationships and serves as the interface between the project team and the business.
Explains programmatic variables to others.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of experience in Project Management & Project Planning
This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status.
Desired Characteristics
MS Project knowledge beyond basic schedule creations.
Knowledge of Deltek Cobra for Schedule Integration
High competency with MS Office Tools, particularly Excel (pivot tables, X or VLOOKUP) Word, and Power Point.
PMP Certification or some formal training on the PMBOK guidelines.
Open Plan experience
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
Experience building, updating, and leading schedules and their reviews.
Preferred platform for scheduling experience, MS Project, with the ability to adapt to other scheduling tools like Deltek Open Plan.
Understands change management in regards to updates to Budget, Authorized Spend, Forecast, and the mechanisms to channel baseline change requests.
Knows how to interpret Project Dashboards in regards to Financials, Variances, Indexes, and Resource Supply and Demand, including skill set requirements.
Ability to influence and gain trust within different skill levels and hierarchies in the business.
