General Electric Assembly Technician in Corpus Christi, Texas

Role Summary:

The Assembly Technician will disassemble & inspect moderate to highly complex Oil & Gas equipment. In this role you will be responsible for disassembling, washing, identifying, prepping, preserving, documenting, and inspecting all equipment assemblies that pass through the disassembly & inspection process. The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical prowess and have a strong understanding of metrology tools.

Essential Responsibilities:

In the role of Assembly Tech, you will:

  • Have a strong mechanical aptitude and an extensive quality background

  • Read and interpret engineering specifications, drawings / blueprints, and standard operating procedures in order to perform critical disassembly & inspection tasks

  • Perform pre-disassembly factory tests per engineering specifications

  • Identify, stamp, and tag all parts per identification requirements and engineering specifications

  • Promptly recognize and report all concerns regarding hazardous conditions

  • Understand and observe all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulatory requirements

  • Comply with all preservation requirements pertaining to customer property and finished goods

  • Be able to use a wide range of mechanical & metrology tools and equipment; to include but not limited to using calipers, height gages, thread gages and other mechanical hand tools

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution

  • Minimum 6 months of Mechanical experienceEligibility Requirements:

  • Work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required

  • Work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities

  • Be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required

  • Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of time Desired Characteristics:

  • Minimum 2 years of inspection experience

  • Proficient with MS Office software package and other planning and scheduling software

  • Strong oral and written presentations skills

  • Experience with ISO 9000 and API Q1 specifications

  • Well versed in operating common inspection tools to include Calipers, OD & ID Mics, and Depth Gages

  • Firm grasp of NDE procedures / Documents

  • Strong time management skills
