Role Summary:

We are looking for individuals that are ready to push 3D mechanical product parametric design to a new high. Advance your skills by working on leading edge mechanical equipment programs where everything from additive manufacturing to birth to grave parametric design concepts become everyday events.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, as the Lead Designer, you will:

  • Utilize experience and mechanical aptitude to create innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical design solutions

  • Transform advanced engineering concepts and basic technical requirements into functional product designs

  • Create definition of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 2D cross sections, 2D drawings, 3D reusable models in a linked model environment utilizing UGNX design software

  • Perform tolerance stack-ups and develop appropriate distribution of same among components in complex mechanical assemblies

  • Perform drawing checking for the purpose of verifying integrity of subordinate work and to ensure proper form, fit and function of engineering designs

  • Ensure development of engineering documentation in compliance with organization format and dimensioning standards

  • Oversee development and maintenance of product assembly bills of material utilized by business wide ERP system and for potential engineering maintained Product Data Management (PDM) system

  • Organize and define work packages for subordinate local and global team members

  • Track progress and provide guidance for on-time completion of work packages assigned to local and global team members

  • Work with engineering and supply chain partners to determine dimensional constraints and geometric tolerances required for proper clearances and fits while maximizing manufacturing producibility

  • Ensure all interfaces between components and assemblies are established and agreed upon by engineering design team

  • Export tag applicable definition created by self and responsible purchased services based on jurisdiction and exportability classifications

  • Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies & Procedures, Engineering Standards and Specifications

  • Concurrently manage multiple projects to ensure program cost, quality and schedule requirements are met

  • Provide technical leadership for subordinate team members in the form of training, mentoring, talent development, and work verification

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 4 years of engineering, scientific or other technical experience)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the design of mechanical components and systems for quantity production ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT :

  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership skills and a positive energy

  • Proven knowledge of computer aided design (CAD), preferably in UGNX

  • Proven understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing as it relates to individual parts and overall assemblies (ANSI Y14.5)

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills

  • Proven knowledge of use of PDM tools, TeamCenter Proven knowledge of ERP tools, Oracle or Syteline
