General Electric Sr Software Engineer in Cleveland, Ohio

Role Summary:

As a Sr Software Engineer you will implement new applications to manage our IT infrastructure assets. You will help lead software design and coding effort and ensure best-in-class software coding practice.

You will have the opportunity to build new applications from scratch and influence system design, as well as engage with stakeholders on a regular basis for feature addition and feedback.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Full stack software implementation of our automation, data and monitoring toolsets

  • Code software needed to extract data from enterprise IOT devices

  • Implement good data solution for the software

  • Champion scalability, operability and reliability of the software implementation

  • Translate high-level business requirements into detailed functional specifications

  • Help lead agile software development and manage the core inputs/outputs in each cycle.

  • Coach and mentor junior team members. Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience Eligibility Requirements:

  • Strong coding skillsets

  • Web UI experience

  • Experience in leveraging AWS services (S3, EMR, Lamda, etc.) for software solutioning

  • Experience with infrastructure automation and orchestration (Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt, etc.) is a plus

  • Experience with managing large infrastructure platform and driving stability through automated monitoring, alerting, and actions.

  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure operations (compute, storage and network infrastructure)

  • Hands-on experience with messaging queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.)

  • Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating technical topics or assignments

  • Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed systems

  • Experience in working with modern/agile software development lifecycles

  • Experience in relational database

  • Strong communication skill

  • Solid background in software engineering
