General Electric Lead Lean Manufacturing Specialist in Clearwater, Florida

Role Summary:

The role of Lead Lean Manufacturing Specialist involves being a business operation focal for delivering on CI initiatives across the site. The purpose of the Lead Lean Manufacturing Specialist role will be to facilitate mission based teams tasked to impact key business metrics. The CI Lead will influence and challenge peers, as well as leadership, to drive the cultural change needed for transformation across the business.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, as the Lead Lean Manufacturing Specialist, you will:

  • Act as a change agent in the implementation of lean manufacturing and velocity scheduling methodologies

  • Lead improvement projects aligned with the site lean vision, strategy and road-map to achieve target lead-time reduction and inventory turns

  • Facilitate a cross-functional Lean Steering Team to ensure shop is engaged in implementation decisions

  • Lead Lean Action Workouts, driving improvements, measuring change and making adjustments based on CI learning

  • Communicate across organization, from operators to peers, and site leadership to ensure all are informed & engaged in progress toward achieving site lean vision

  • Connect the dots across technologies / processes and develop integrated solutions

  • Lead Lean training effort to ensure use of tools throughout shop and at all levels

  • Drive leader standard work across the site

  • Communicate across GE sites to share / leverage best practices

  • Integrate Lean / VSS into GE Operating System Digital tools (Layered Process Review, Cell Control Center, Plant Control Center, Business Control Center)

  • Sustain foundation elements such as 5S and Kaizen improvement processes

  • Work cross-functionally with materials functions to execute & sustain a "Plan For Every Part (PFEP)" to ensure material flow into shop


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working on continuous improvement activities


  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • OMLP graduate (GE employees only)

  • Lean Training & Experience

  • Change agent with strong credibility and influence in the organization

  • Demonstrated results leading process improvement

  • Knowledge of and experience in the GE Aviation Production System

  • Knowledge of the disciplines of manufacturing management such as production / inventory control, quality management systems, and standard cost systems

  • Strong analytical skills (advanced MS Excel skills)

  • Knowledge of manufacturing policies and regulations as well as government and other customers

  • Knowledge of products, processes, customer requirements and budgeting / financial processes

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Strong organizational skills
