Baker Hughes, a GE company has an opening for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support Artificial Lift in Claremore, OK. This candidate can be expected to work as a Sustaining or New Product Development Engineer in the ESP Systems Engineering Group for BHGE. Responsibilities include mechanical systems design, root cause failure analysis, and solution implementation for rotating downhole pumps or motors and seals. Candidate will work individually and as part of a team to support customer equipment projects, test and evaluate equipment, perform mechanical failure analysis, and provide technical assistance as needed within the Engineering and Manufacturing environment. Candidate will coordinate project work internally and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects. This position receives moderate to minimal supervision on most or all aspects of each project and is expected to meet all deadlines on time and within budget. Approximately 10% international and domestic travel can be expected.
Provide technical shop support, support customer witness activities, and lead root cause failure analysis of ESP equipment
Act as the technical point of contact between the product center and internal and external customers
Identify and implement corrective actions in an expedited manner to drive customer outcomes
Execute component and subcomponent level validation testing, generating test procedures and test reports
Provide management of change justifications for all product change implementations
Perform engineering design reviews
Execute projects of moderate complexity
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years’ ESP product experience, or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ yrs ESP product experience
Excellent communication skills
Excellent project management skills
3D modeling expertise
Previous experience reviewing mechanical designs for improvements
Root cause analysis experience
Ability to build peer relationships as well as work independently
5+ years ESP product experience
2+ years customer facing experience
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong negotiation skills
Strong organization skills
Thorough knowledge of principles, concepts, theories and practices of project management
Must be capable of integrating activities of numerous departments/individuals and 3rd parties for the successful completion of projects
Highly motivated, with ability to prioritize multiple projects with resource constraints while achieving project deliverables
Demonstrated experience with project scheduling software
