General Electric Sr Database Operations Engineer in Cincinnati, Ohio
Job Description Summary
Responsible for managing day to day operational support activities and ensuring uptime and availability of mission critical Aviation Databases. The role will lead a contract L1/L2 operations team and drive simplification and performance and availability across the environment.
Also work with Database architects and cloud engineer to help them with database builds and migrations
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
Thorough knowledge of underlying the Oracle Applications Technology Stack, database architecture, schemas/products and database objects
Experience with installation, configuration, ongoing maintenance and upgrades of Oracle databases
Upgrade, configure, tune, and debug all components of the Oracle databases
Monitor database performance, space utilization, identify potential problems and ensure database availability
Act as a central escalation point for highly critical and/or highly impactful user database outages and incidents.
Work with Database delivery leads and Operations lead to provide input on how to drive strategy, operational processes & frameworks to align with overall business goals.
Execute programs to monitor Database platform and service progress via effective information dashboards for operational metrics, defect, quality, change control, and compliance.
Monitor ticket trends in order to identify opportunities for ticket reductions.
Collaborate with various stakeholders, influencing decisions to align to customer goals.
Ensure conformance to all applicable GE standards policies and guidelines
Operational reporting/communication, reviews/formulation of corrective actions working directly with stakeholders
Leverage domain expertise to further knowledge and improve productivity of colleagues supporting a continuous learning culture
Create a culture of customer focus through GENBA, in order to drive innovation through continuous customer engagement.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 2 years of professional experience OR Associates degree with minimum of 5 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 7 years of professional experience
Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience

Technical Expertise:
Oracle administration, monitoring and performance tuning
Demonstrable experience in developing advanced Oracle RAC architecture designs and corresponding support models in AWS cloud.
Advanced knowledge of and experience in Oracle operational support best practices
Advanced knowledge of Oracle database and SQL tuning practices
Certification – Oracle Database and AWS certification
Oracle Linux Experience
Virtualization (VMware) Experience
