General Electric Lead Category Management Specialist- Digital Technology (Aviation) in Cincinnati, Ohio

Role Summary:The Lead Category Management Specialist is responsible to implement and manage assigned Sourcing commodities at either Global or Regional level by providing improved customer service and controllership that aligns to the overall sourcing strategy for GE Aviation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with internal sourcing clients, compliance leadership, functional owners and CIO/CDO teams to ensure operational effectiveness within an outsourced environment

  • Supplier management of service deliverables, costs and performance metrics

  • Responsible for the IT commodity family and sub- commodities (IT services, software, telecom, hardware) across the Aviation business

  • Drive and lead cost out initiatives to support business deflation, usage, cost avoidance, and Business COE targets (workouts, negotiations)

  • Develop and implement the GOS vision in all major IT/Telecom work streams across Aviation

  • Support projects & initiatives

  • Play a lead contributor role in the development of strategy and execution across the COE

  • Shape & implement a global IT Sourcing strategy for CIO and CDO Teams

  • Drive CAP (Change Acceleration Process) across the business COE and incorporate industry best practices as aid and support

  • Create synergies between P&L’s and across poles (US, EU, Asia, etc…)

  • Lead and Manage the OCDB contracts management initiative as part of the COE scope. Simplify and automate the current process to drive compliance, standardization and cost out

  • Support initiatives to lean and improve usage of purchasing centers across the Aviation business

  • Identify improvement opportunities and enhancements to our purchasing processes & systems

  • Help shape the monitoring & control of processes & systems related to supplier maintenance activities

  • Develop a supplier rating program by leveraging industry and cross GE best practices

  • Support cash initiatives to improve days to pay across the business


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma/GED with at least 5 years relevant experience

  • 4+ years of experience in IT, IT Sourcing, or IT Program Management

Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated ability to influence in a matrix ed organization

  • Strong negotiation and contracting skills

  • Experience in operations and sourcing in 1 or more GE businesses

  • Experience in IT / Telecom commodity or IT related contract management

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification or equivalent experience (GE Employees Only)

  • GE Program graduate with operational or IT experience preferred

  • Demonstrated project management experience (develop, plan and manage execution to designed deliverable s)

  • Experience managing global, shared service delivery in an outsourced supplier model (customer service, transnational processes, initiatives, reporting and metrics)

  • Flexible schedule to accommodate global time zones

  • Knowledge of GE tools and technology (for example: Support Central workflows, Supplier

  • Master File processes)

  • Buyer or ERP experience and knowledge (understand PO process, invoice/pay processes and routines)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively influence & lead change

  • Ability to cope with multiple complex situations daily

  • Strategic ability to formulate concepts and mobilize with actionable plans

  • Proven skills to analyze and connect functional and technical requirements to meet process routines

  • Strong skill proficiency in MS Excel, data analysis

  • Quality focused to manage standard models, as well as outliers for unique/required variation

  • Controller-ship and compliance mindset (transnational and process integrity)

  • Excellent time management, prioritization skills
