The VP of Product Management will report directly to the GM of the Manufacturing | Digital Plant Business. As the VP of Digital Product Management for Manufacturing you'll own P&L and strategy for product portfolio in this high-profile, high-potential business segment. You'll build andmentor a team of high-performance Product Managers to define and execute strategy, establish and achieve ambitious business outcomes. Responsible for Product Management of the Proficy portfolio, Automation, Historian and Manufacturing Execution Systems across the Manufacturing Business.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for business segment targets on orders, revenue, cost & margin.

  • Make sound investment decisions based on market opportunities, market trend, risks, competitive landscape and strategic partnerships. Responsible for roadmap, product lifecycle and product management processes.

  • Produce and develop breakthrough and/or turnaround divisional strategies that drive accelerated growth and strengthened competitive advantage, specifically in the Portfolio offering to drive Customer Outcome Success as the business transitions to a higher mix of cloud hosted subscription business.

  • Ensure a best-in-class introduction of cloud hosted and subscription-based offerings to the Manufacturing | Digital Plant customer base.

  • Lead and develop a a high performance Product Management organization (30+ employees) that has the right mix of technical understanding and strong communication skills. Be a talent multiplier by developing talent and creating a talent funnel for the Organization. Drive an execution culture that is rooted in Lean principles.

  • Be a regular speaker in events and active in industry associations to influence and shape the direction for the business and technology in the segment.

  • Work cross functionally across sales, internal/external customers, analysts, marketing, engineering and senior management teams to formulate and execute the strategy.

  • Establish and manage relationships across GE businesses & sub-businesses, partners and customers at CxO and senior management levels across industries and geographies.

  • The leader is or has the capability to become a well-known & reputed thought and business leader in the industry.


  • Bachelor's Degree. A minimum 12 years of professional experience. MBA Preferred.

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in the software industry

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Product Management/Strategy functions

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in technical & customer facing roles with proven track record

  • A Minimum of 5 years of strong people management in hiring, mentoring and enabling product management team to achieve goals

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience working in Manufacturing S/W related businesses.

  • Success in introducing and growing Cloud / SaaS based portfolios offerings.

  • Demonstrated ability to proactively drive portfolio and investment decisions that balances customer needs, install base requirements (refresh) and long-term enterprise differentiation.

  • Business Acumen: Proven ability to make strategic partnering decisions for the product line including the creation of new inbound/outbound channels.

  • Inorganic game boarding and acquisition champion with proven results.

  • Track record of evangelizing concepts beyond current offerings and driving business model innovation (product, service and delivery innovations).

  • Highly effective and skilled in setting and driving value-based pricing structures.

  • Expertise in monitoring and shaping industry dynamics, trends, and policies and to shape a culture that proactively uses market intelligence to drive significant growth

  • Adept performing as a trusted advisor who consistently marshals the best company resources across business functions, including at the executive level, on behalf of the customer

  • Leadership: Track record of success in setting & driving strategy for the organization in relation to upstream and downstream effects. Implementing and driving program/product strategy within the organization

  • Knowledge and ability to sell and improve the Program/Product Management process, its outcomes and ongoing results

  • Can apply critical thinking skills and disciplined approaches to help leaders and leadership teams resolve issues and define solutions

  • Places personal credibility and reputation on the line to passionately advocate for what they believe in

  • Knows how to effectively manage risk and uncertainty for self and team. Makes decisions with confidence when problems or solutions are not 100% defined

  • Experience and comfort with Lean principles and tools.
