Job Description Summary

As a HL7 Solution Implementation Leader (SIL), you will provide operational leadership to the Technical Implementation Excellence team. Ensure the effectiveness of our HL7 related technical implementations for better customer outcomes and satisfaction with the implementation. Responsible for ensuring effective knowledge transfer between our product management teams, development engineering teams and the implementation teams. Ensure the overall skills and competency levels of our Technical Implementation Specialists (TIS) meet the requirements of the business. Act as leader and mentor to TIS team members.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review customer’s IT environment and coordinate with the GE Project Manager (PM) and customer to develop HL7 and DICOM interfaces between a customer’s HIS/RIS, PACS, VNA and other healthcare systems.

  • Plan out and execute technical installation of integration projects in coordination with customer, GE team and other vendor resources.

  • Act as technical lead/mentor to ITPS Technical Implementation Specialists (TIS) and external third-party integration resources, by cross-training team members on implementation strategy of Centricity Clinical Gateway (CCG) Installation, Upgrades (I&U) and HL7 integration tasks.

  • Act as Technical escalation point for HL7 project for Project Managers and TIS.

  • Act as main technical contact for CCG/Interface project go-lives. Coordinate technical preparation for interface Go-Live Events.

  • Technical scope review with PM and prepare workstream plan for Integration projects.

  • Work closely with TIS on project related tasks including install, upgrade, testing, integration, and go-live work.

  • Complete administrative/compliance records relating to customer installations/upgrades.

  • Liaise with Project Managers, Installation Engineers local Field Service Representatives and Account Managers at both technical and business levels.

  • Learn GE procedures and internal systems to effectively investigate product issues and escalate appropriately.

  • Obtain customer EMR/RIS HL7 requirements.

  • Address customer system workflow issues.

  • Configure HL7 mapping on an interface engine to meet customer workflow needs.

  • Develop and obtain approval for integration test plans with customers.

  • Consult with the customer on converting patient, visit, exam, and result records into the database of a VNA or clinical document repository.

  • Assist with migration of data from legacy PACS to replacement PACS, VNA and/or clinical document repository.

  • Collaborate with product and integration teams across markets to share product knowledge, standard processes, and standard implementation practices.

  • Support pre-sales process and quoting when needed.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with Organizational Readiness to catch new product introductions (NPI), determine impact, define, and develop supportive collateral aligned with the integration strategy.

  • Assist with configuration of Imaging Analytics measuring operational and clinical metrics.

  • Performs role in compliance with all internal and regulatory/legislative quality standards and expectations.

  • Ability to upgrade application software and apply service patches when necessary.

  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.

  • Uses sound judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated processes/workflow with technical variety and/or interdependent applications.

  • Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions/solutions.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues. Shares knowledge with team members.

Required Qualifications:

  • AS Degree in Computer Science or General Business

  • Level 2 Quovadx Certified and a minimum of 3+ yrs interface engine experience.

  • HL7 Certified and a minimum of 3 years HL7 experience

  • Project Management Experience

  • Basic Networking Experience

  • Candidate must be willing and able to work with computers including the following applications: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Windows, Windows Server and Microsoft SQL or Microsoft Access.

  • TCL or C programming experience

  • VMWare experience

  • Experience working independently on multiple projects

  • Experience working with compliance objectives

  • Experience mentoring/training others

  • Willingness to work out of a home office

  • Willingness to take a drug test

  • Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Candidate must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example: verification of past employment, criminal history and educational background.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Minimal travel required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or General Business

  • Level 3 Quovadx Certified

  • HL7 Certified

  • Experience with multiple Interface Engines: Quovadx/Rhapsody /Mirth/DataGate/Open Engine etc.

  • Experience working with relational database query language

  • Familiarity with product development and release process (e.g. GEMS PRD process)

  • Experience with Information Systems Integration

  • Unix and/or Linux experience

  • Experience with Clinical and Cardiology Systems products and related workflow

  • Familiar w/Six Sigma quality principals
