Job Description Summary
As the Media Relations Specialist, you will report into the Executive Director of External Communications. You will be a critical member of GE Healthcare’s external communications team, a passionate storyteller with experience working in the fast-paced news environment, understands public relations and the media landscape. You are expected to deliver on a strategic media relations strategy that supports key GE Healthcare initiatives, responsible for the development and implementation of public, social and media relations strategies to advance business and reputation goals and secure coverage. You will develop and nurtures national, trade and social media relations, creates thought leadership content and supports reputation and issues management.

Develop business communication materials in support of company goals, priorities, and initiatives, including creative news pitches, key messages, talking points, meeting presentations announcements and award submissions.
Monitor media coverage and provide regular coverage reports related to the business, relevant industry trends, product lines, competitive landscape, and issues management
Work closely with business teams to support external PR campaigns, digital/social initiatives, product initiatives and other related opportunities
Establish and develop key relationships with journalists and other key influencers by managing appropriate access to executives to build understanding and confidence
Partner with the brand and storytelling team, culture communications and global colleagues in the development and dissemination of main messages to appropriate audiences based on business objectives
Assist in the creation of pitch materials, storytelling, narratives and related content, including earned, owned and social media
Manage regular reporting for the communications function, including media monitoring, event coverage recaps, share of voice and social media reports
Build and manage a media database across trade, healthcare, and national media outlets
Collaborate with internal communications team to highlight important news moments within the company
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English or a related field.
A minimum of 3+ years of experience in a corporate communications function, media relations or PR agency
Clear thinking, creative communication and problem-solving skills with demonstrated success leading multiple projects/initiatives
Demonstrates a clear understanding for news and is proactive when opportunities arise – creates moments tapping into relevant and current topics rather than only waiting for news to be handed to you
Can cross news over the line landing coverage that supports and drives key business priorities
Excellent oral and written communications skills with ability to simplify complex issues
Can effectively and positively manage multiple projects, set priorities and execute on tight deadlines
Able to work across multiple levels, functions and regions in a complex business matrix
Willing to work outside of the traditional workday to support news of the day moments
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated teamwork skills
Natural curiosity, interest and understanding of current affairs, politics and public opinion; the ability to gauge the effects of these on present and future business plans
Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities; quick learner and self-starter
