Role Summary/Purpose
The Communications Director, Digital is a senior communications all-rounder/generalist responsible for the development and deployment of a GE Healthcare Digital Communications strategy leveraging the entire communications mix, including strategy and planning, messaging, thought leadership, employee and change communications, media/PR, and executive communications, among other tasks. In executing the role the successful candidate needs to ensure alignment of the Digital Communications messaging and strategy with GE Healthcare’s overall communications strategy. This role will work closely with business leaders across the Digital organization to help build a world-class Digital positioning and narrative that can be driven internally and externally with a view to positioning the organization at the forefront of the Digital transformation.
Essential Responsibilities
In partnership with Digital leadership, defines the key communications priorities and leverages these to create a multi-stakeholder (external and internal), multi-channel communications strategy and related tactics.
Constantly and proactively interacts with internal and external stakeholders to refine, and improve communication plans.
Partners with the GE Healthcare external communications team to actively promote and protect the company in the media (trade, consumer & social), financial community, general public and other centers of influence.
Leveraging external channels – earned and owned – strives to win share of voice and share of discussion across key Digital themes and priority commercial areas.
Build and execute thought leadership strategies for key leaders within the Digital team (e.g. LinkedIn articles, bylines, speaking engagements, etc.)
Working with the Digital Marketing and Commercial teams, partner with customers and prospects to jointly tell outcomes-driven stories.
Partners with the GE Healthcare Internal communications team to actively drive the transformative digital message across the entire enterprise – as it relates internally to the strategic priorities of GE Healthcare and to the broader external Future of Healthcare narrative (drive for deep employee understanding and engagement).
Support leadership to improve employee affinity and engagement within GE Healthcare Digital.
Leads communications on critical organizational projects such as acquisitions, integrations or divestments; organizational realignments or restructuring; and other significant developments within the Digital environment.
Provides executives with communications guidance on complex, sensitive and business critical issues, including crisis management topics and scenarios.
Collaborates with the broader Corporate Marketing and Communications team (SBU and Region teams) to execute global external and internal communications plans and programs within the regions that support the Digital business strategy and priorities, and drives awareness and engagement of key initiatives and developments.
Ensure Digital message and positioning harmonization and consistency across SBUs and Regions.
Serves as a crisis communications point of contact for specific business issues, potentially including cross-GE Healthcare issues (e.g., Cyber).
Qualifications/requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or a related field and minimum 6 years communications experience OR minimum 8 years communications experience covering organizational communications, PR or marketing communications
A track record of influencing and engaging successfully with external stakeholders (thought leaders, key opinion leaders, influencers, press, governments) at the highest levels in a highly regulated, politically sensitive and technical environment
A track record of influencing and engaging successfully with senior internal leaders, driving employee engagement and managing through change
Excellent oral and written communications skills with ability to simplify complex issues and act quickly with sensitivity to a range of external perspectives
Strong commercial acumen and understanding of the business drivers
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated teamwork skills
Successful people leadership record preferred
Clear interest and understanding of current affairs and technology developments and the ability to gauge the effects of these on present and future communication plans
Ability to work in a complex business matrix, meeting the needs of both the GEHC Digital team and the Corporate Marketing and Communications function
Ability to prioritize multiple projects
Integrity: accepting and adhering to high ethical, moral, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others
Desired Characteristics
